John Edwards, is it fair?
OK, let me start off by saying I am not a fan of John Edwards, but I think he is being treated unfairly by his fellow Democrats.
When Clinton had affair after affair after affair, lied about the affair to a Grand Jury, and then (eventually) admitted he had lied, the Democrats all rallied around him and said “That’s OK Bill, we understand” and all was forgiven. The President of the United States lied to Congress, lied to the American people, and lied under oath to a Grand Jury but his fellow Democrats couldn’t care less.
Edwards lies about an affair, and now his fellow Democrats are saying he shouldn’t speak at the Democratic Convention in a couple of weeks, he could never be considered as a Vice Presidential candidate, nor even as a member of the Obama Cabnet. Because he lied about having an affair!? He didn’t lie under oath. He didn’t lie to Congress. Yet his lie appears to be a much bigger sin to the Democrats than Clinton’s numerous lies.
What gives?
What happened to all the excuses given for Clinton and his lies? Don’t they apply to Edwards just as well as they did for Clinton? How is a lie about an affair from Edwards seemingly greater than a lie about an affair from Clinton?
To me Clinton’s lies are far worse than Edwards lies, but Clinton is given a prime speaking spot at the Democrat’s National Convention, and Edwards is being shunned by his fellow Democrats. It doesn’t make sense. Even some of Edwards’ (former) closest advisors are expressing total shock and dismay that Edwards lied. Maybe it is because no one ever expected Edwards to lie, but were accoustomed to continual lying from Clinton. Perhaps that’s it; Edwards was such a “stand up” guy that he would never do anything inappropriate, but Bill Clinton . . . well, no telling what dirty deed he might do or say.
Is that it? Edwards is so wholesome that this is just that big of a shock?
It still doesn’t seem fair to me. Edwards got out of the race for the Presidency and endorsed Obama in exchange for a prime speaking spot at the Democratic Convention, and now it looks like Obama will go back on his word. Obama will have lied to Edwards, but I doubt if anyone, (except Edwards), will think of him as a lier. They will give Obama a pass on lying just as they gave Clinton a pass, and Edwards will forever be unfairly branded.
Now let us shift gears a tad. How did the Enquirer ever get its info about Edwards in the first place? How did they find out about his visit to his former lover? Someone had to tip them off.
Is it beyond the realm of possibility that some Democrat so dislikes Edwards that they would sabotage his career like this? It seems entirely possible to me, dirty politics is certainly not new but attacks like this against an “also ran” are not that common. Still, if Edwards was possibly on Obama’s short list for VP, and another contender wanted him out of the way . . . it looks like they succeeded.
I wish John Edwards well, it is unfortunate that his transgression is being treated more severly that that of President Clinton, Rev. Jackson, and every other “moral authority” who has had an affair and been forgiven. I don’t know who leaked Edwards secret, but I do know that “what goes around, comes around” and I am confident that one day his enemy will get bitten in the backside.
That’s my 2 cents.

John Edwards preached about morals.
So, Elizabeth Edwards knew about her husband’s sexual affair with Rielle Hunter in 2006 and fully supported his run for the White House ??? Is she nuts?? No wonder the media tried to cover up John Edwards’ affair. Exposing John’s sex romp makes his wife look just as stupid as him.
John really blew it. He should have claimed the baby was his from artificial insemination and the Rielle was a paid surrogate. When Rielle refused to give up the child, John wanted to talk to her alone. Elizabeth could have claimed full knowledge.
If Obama didn’t know what John Edwards up doing with his spare time, then how is he going to figure the Iranians out? The answer: Obama knew.
